Guldfeber är den film som jag helst vill att människor ska minnas mig för, är ett berömt citat av Charlie Chaplin. 1998 utsågs denna guldkantade komedi till en av de 100 bästa amerikanska filmerna någonsin av det amerikanska filminstitutet. Chaplin spelade in berättelsen i två versioner, först som stumfilm och några år senare även som ljudfilm. Här har vi det stora nöjet att kunna presentera Chaplins egen ljudfilmsversion.Chaplins hejdlöse lille luffare prövar lyckan som guldgrävare i Alaska. På sitt oefterhärmliga sätt lyckas han förvandla livets alla svårigheter till stor komik och skapar bland annat en festmåltid av en välkokt sko, far omkring som en vante i ett hus som balanserar på en klippspets, framför en virvlande dans med två småfrallor i huvudrollerna och tvingas uppbåda allt sitt mod när han ställs inför allehanda riskabla uppdrag. Guldfeber är kort och gott ett av filmhistoriens största underverk.
