ArtMonitor 2 - Konstens plats / The Place of Art
In 2006 the artist Esther Shalev-Gerz created a relational art project in Bergsjön, Göteborg, Sweden. The project was unique in its ability to unite very different people, with different cultural origins and convictions around the idea of a Place of Art. This volume describes, analyses and documents the processes around The Place of Art.
There will always be those that slam on the brakes & say this is wrong...

Wonderful Colour - Gothenburg Colourism In A New Light
The Gothenburg Colourists clothed the West Coast and Gothenburg inscintillating colour. In the 1930s, their work was characterized by a powerfully expressive use of colour without counterpart in Sweden. Intense hues, bold brushwork, intimate motifs, and passionate visions have won artists such as Åke Göransson, Ivan Ivarson, Nils Nilson, Ragnar Sandberg, and Inge Schiöler a place in the public heart. The history of this vital artistic current, sparked by a few students at the Valand School of Art, is a success story. But it is also a story of tragedy, as several of the artists had mental illnesses and died young. In a series of essays, authors and scholars examine Romantic mythologizing around the movement, its critical reception, the artist role, and historiographical questions, as well as the role of the city itself and its galleries and dealers. The volume introduces an expanded gallery of Gothenburg Colourists along with works by their forerunners and successors and related colourists from Denmark and Norway. This book has been published in conjunction with the exhibitionWonderful Colour: Gothenburg Colourism in a New Lightat the Gothenburg Museum of Art.Contributors: Kristoffer Arvidsson, Per Dahlström, Martin Gustavsson, Andrea Kollnitz, Lydia Sandgren, Patrik Steorn, Jeff Werner, Håkan Wettre, and Eva Zetterman.
Passionen för det reala : nya rum
Konstnärer, filmare, musiker, designers på jakt efter nya perspektiv? Ett begrepp i tiden landar i skymningen: Passionen för det reala? ?i?ek. Så det kan gå. Och kanske allt detta handlar om rum, nya rum, nya egna gamla rum? Och så mycket kreativitet, så mycket kritik, så många inspirerande bemödanden för att förhålla sig, till passioner, det reala, det dokumentära.
