Piero Sraffa (1898-1983) var italiensk nationalekonom och anses med "Production of Commodities by Means of Commodities" ha grundat den neoricardianska skolan. Han ingick även i det informella sällskapet "Cafeteria group" tillsammans med bland andra John Maynard Keynes, och Ludwig Wittgenstein. "Production of Commodities by Means of Commodities" publicerades 1960 och med den ville Sraffa lägga grunden till en kritik av neoklassisk ekonomisk teori. Detta åstadkom han genom att rekonstruera vissa idéer hos klassikerna och Marx.
