Anti-Alapin Gambit
When you are ready for a great fighting game in the Sicilian Defense, there are few things there are more annoying than facing the hatefully solid 2.c3 variation, the so-called Alapin Variation. This is not a shady gambit but it is a weapon that has been used by several grandmasters, including World Champion Magnus Carlsen. The gambit has the advantage of being unexplored and is still quite unknown. Therefore, this book constitutes the first work dedicated to this fun and tricky variation. To get a good feel for the intricacies of the various lines, the authors took it upon themselves to play the opening in their online and training games where it proved remarkably effective. In this work, you will find forty-four thoroughly analyzed main games with lots of explanations and additional analysis as well as a 'Quick Repertoire' that will allow you to play the opening in your games after a minimal amount of study time. It is time to take your opponents out of their comfort zone and right

We, The Drowned
INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER. We, The Drowned is an epic novel about generations of men who go to sea and the women and children they leave behind. Filled with adventure, cannibals, shrunken heads, prophetic dreams, forbidden passions, cowards, heroes, tragedies, love, and survival, this book takes its place among the greatest seafaring literature. We, the Drowned is the story of the port town of Marstal, Denmark, whose inhabitants sailed the world from the mid-nineteenth century to the end of the Second World War. The novel tells of ships wrecked and blown up in wars, of places of terror and violence that continue to lure each generation. The result is a brilliant seafaring novel, a gripping saga encompassing industrial growth, the years of expansion and exploration, the crucible of the first half of the twentieth century, and most of all, the sea. 'We, the Drowned sets sail beyond the narrow channels of the seafaring genre and approaches Tolstoy in its evocation of war's confusion, its

Hans und Wassili Luckhardt
The architectural work of Hans and Wassili Luckhardt (1890–1954/1889–1972) is not yet adequately appreciated. As members of the Glass Chain initiative and the Ring collective, they shaped, especially through their work with Alfons Anker, the development of Modernist architecture in the 1920s, as evidenced by their winning design for the layout of Berlin’s Alexanderplatz. While their early work was anchored in utopian expressionism, a more objective attitude emerged later, based on the application of new architectural constructs. The book documents all 40 of Hans und Wassili Luckhardt’s realized buildings. Two essays deal with the unbuilt and utopian projects. Newly taken photographs and newly drawn plans by Carsten Krohn complement the historical illustrations. * Comprehensive documentation of the work of Hans and Wassili Luckhardt. * * With approx. 80 new photographs and 80 newly drawn plans by Carsten Krohn
