Socialfilosofiska Uppsatser

Under sitt liv var Axel Hägerström (18681939) den mest kontroversielle av svenska filosofer, men också den som fick flest hängivna lärjungar och anhängare. Hans så kallade värdenihilism, uppfattningen att värde- och rättsomdömen saknar varje objektiv halt och enbart utgör uttryck för önskningar och känslor, blev en del av tidsatmosfären. Hans inflytande sträckte sig långt utanför filosofiseminarierna: Karin Boye, Karl Vennberg, Herbert Tingsten och Gunnar Myrdal hörde till dem som tog intryck. Socialfilosofiska uppsatser, som i denna nyutgåva är försedd med ett förord av Svante Nordin, gavs för första gången ut 1939 och är den bästa och mest lättillgängliga introduktionen till Axel Hägeströms tänkande, särskilt när det gäller frågor om moral, rätt och samhälle. Den ger dessutom en samlad bild av ett livsverk som hör till de mest originella och inflytelserika i svensk filosofi.
