Schaffner directs this historical drama which follows the last Russian monarch, Tsar Nicholas II (Michael Jayston) and his wife Tsarina Alexandra (Janet Suzman) from 1904 until their deaths in 1918. After her son is diagnosed with haemophilia, Alexandra turns to Grigori Rasputin (Tom Baker) for guidance but his behaviour causes problems for the Tsar. Increasing unrest amongst the Russian people and the advent of World War I culminate in revolution and Nicholas is forced to abdicate. However, when the Bolsheviks seize power, the family face a fate worse than imprisonment...Typ: DVD
