Den svenska produktivitetsutvecklingen har under senare år varit stark både historiskt och internationellt sett. Men den är ojämnt fördelad, konstaterar 2007 års rapport från SNS Konjunkturråd. Tillverkningsindustrins produktivitetstillväxt var den fjärde högsta bland OECD-länderna under åren 19952003. Utvecklingen inom den konkurrensutsatta tjänstesektorn har däremot inte imponerat utan där hamnade Sverige först på artonde plats. Tjänstesektorn som idag står för sju av tio jobb kommer att utgöra en större andel av den totala ekonomin i framtiden med allt större andel av jobben. Den svaga utvecklingen i tjänstesektorn kan därför försämra den svenska ekonomins tillväxtförmåga på sikt med lägre vinster och sämre reallöner än omvärlden som följd. Rapporten analyserar produktivitetsutvecklingen för Sverige som helhet, i enskilda branscher och på företagsnivå och tar särskilt upp följande frågor. Vilken påverkan har IT haft? Vilken roll har avreglering och konkurrens spelat? Har den höga produktivitetstillväxten hindrat nya arbetstillfällen från att skapas?
