Tiko Estate Saperavi 2022
Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. The Tiko estate is a young and small winery founded by the two Chychynadze brothers in Kakheti, one of the oldest and most prestigious wine regions in Georgia. The company, which produces traditional wines from native grape varieties, is considered one of the most promising in the country. The name Tiko is a tribute to Levan and Georgi Chychynadze's mother and in fact, refers to her nickname. Saperavi grapes are selected in the vineyards of the Kakheti region on alluvial soils rich in stone and clay. Before and after fermentation the grapes are left to macerate at low temperatures to preserve the fragrant character of the wine and guarantee a slow and complete extraction of the aromas. The finished wine then rests for 6-12 months in French oak, before bottling. The wine has a dense and deep dark red color. Its aromatic profile is fragrant and intense with aromas of small dark fruits and plum, followed by hints of toasted oak. On the palate, the wine has a full character and intense berry flavors. The tannins are firm but soft and well-integrated and the finish is long, juicy, and fruity. Have it with grilled red meat.
Tiko Estate Rkatsiteli 2023
Drink it now or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant. The Tiko Estate is a young family winery founded in 2017. The name of the company is a tribute to the owners' mother Levan and Georgi Chychynadez, who after years abroad, still working in the wine field, decided to open their own business. The company, considered one of the most promising up-and-coming wineries in the country, produces excellent quality Georgian wines using native vines and traditional winemaking methods. Rkatsiteli grapes, sourced from vineyards located in the Kakheti wine region, are whole bunch pressed. Fermentation takes place in French oak barriques (one-third of which are new) and the finished wine ages on the yeasts for 10 months (partly in barriques and partly in steel), before light filtration and bottling. The wine has a bright lemon-yellow color. Its aromatic profile is fresh and fragrant with notes of stone fruit (especially nectarine and white peach), melon, pineapple, and grapefruit, with some light hints of oak. On the palate, it is smooth and has a pleasant creaminess thanks to the aging on the lees. The acidity is pleasant and well balanced and the finish is quite long and deliciously fruity. It works wonderfully with creamy lemon pasta, shellfish, or Mediterranean recipes.
Tiko Estate Mtsvane 2024
Drink it now or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant it. Considered one of Georgia's most interesting emerging wineries, Tiko Estate is owned by the Chychynadze brothers who established it in 2017, giving it their mother's nickname as a tribute. The winery makes excellent Georgian wines in the Kakheti wine region, using indigenous vines which in this area benefit from iron-rich soils and a particularly favorable continental climate. Mtsvane is a rare white grape variety with an aromatic character, originally from Georgia. The grapes for this wine are harvested manually from vineyards located in the Kakheti region. After fermentation, which takes place in steel with selected yeasts at a controlled temperature, the finished wine is aged for 6 months in steel to preserve its natural freshness and perfumes. Tiko Estate's Mtsvane is a fragrant and lively white wine with bright color and a broad and fresh aromatic profile. On the nose, the wine reveals notes of white flowers, pear and apricot. On the palate, it is elegant and fruity with a marked mineral vein and a pronounced acidity. It is lively and well structured with a delicious, lingering finish that recalls notes of white pepper. It is excellent with seafood, goat cheese salads and Greek vegetarian recipes.
Tiko Estate Orange Kisi 2023
Drink it now or cellar for up to 8-10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Founded in 2017 by brothers Levan and Georgi Chychynadze, the Tiko winery name pays homage to the founders' mother (Tiko was her nickname). The company is located in the Kakheti wine region where the continental climate and iron-rich soils have provided ideal conditions for the production of quality wines for thousands of years. The Tiko winery focuses its work on native Georgian vines and traditional winemaking methods. This orange wine from eastern Georgia is made from grapes from the indigenous Kisi variety. Fermentation takes place according to the traditional method on the skins in large terracotta pots called Qvevri. After fermentation, the finished wine is aged for another 6 months on their skins. Estate Orange Kisi is a brightly colored wine with orange tones. On the nose, it reveals a broad and complex aromatic profile with notes of stone fruit and quince, honey, and orange peel. On the palate, it is concentrated and powerful but well-balanced. It has an almost creamy texture in the mouth and well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and recalls apricot notes. Its aromatic richness makes it ideal with Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine.
