Innervisions är något som kan stå för den blinde Stevie Wonder. Han såg saker i sitt inre som träffar hjärtat på de som lyssnar till honom. Detta är albumet som följde upp 1972 års mästerverk "Talking book" - och det är lika bra. Kanske rent av hans bästa. Den långa, episka "Living for the city" handlar om vad som väntar en svart och oskuldsfull yngling från Mississippi när han skall flytta till storstaden. Stevie använder sin röst på ett häpnadsväckande sätt. "Too high" är en låt om droger. "Higher ground" är en funkig uppföljare till det föregående albumets stora hit "Superstition" och den introducerade tillsammans med "Jesus children of America" Stevie's intresse för österns religion. "He's misstra know it all" var en känga till "Tricky Dick" - eller Richard Nixon. Stevie Wonder såg mer än de flesta vad som pågick i världen - i sitt inre.
