Skulptören Pieter Hybbinette säger att varje teckning han gör är resultatet av ett ögonblicks iakttagelse. Han tecknar mest under resor, då finns alltid skissboken till hands. Det som fascinerar honom mer än annat är de ansikten han möter med sina högst olika karaktärer. Det han presenterar i denna bok är ett urval av bilder tagna ur hans skissböcker från 1977 till 2024.
Att forma och att formas
Skulptören Pieter Hybbinette (f.1938) tar oss med på sin livsresa och söker sig fram till hur den har format honom som person. Resan går från hans tidiga barndom i det koloniala Indien som starkt påverkat hans första år i Sverige och vidare fram till hur det känns att åldras. Däremellan berättar han om livets olika skeden. It remains a stroke of fortune that in the turbulent times of the 17th century with its numerous cultural and military upheavals the artistic depiction of human life took a similarly rapid and proliferous development. Never before in history had society in all its squalor and splendor been presented in so many pictures of outstanding artistic quality. At the end of the 16th century the Golden Age of Painting began to evolve especially in the Low Countries. Many contemporary paintings also show events from the Eighty Years War, the United Provinces' struggle for independence from Spain.
