Pessac leognan

Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Located near the French Gironde estuary, in the Pessac-Léognan AOC, Château de Fieuzal has very ancient origins dating back to the 16th century, when it was founded by the Gardères family. In the following century, the estate became the property of the Fieuzal family until 1851, when the last descendant of the family died. Since 2001, the business has been owned by Irish husband and wife team Brenda and Lochlann Quinn, and since 2007 operations have been managed by Stephen Carrier. The company vineyards extend over more than 70 hectares planted with vines of about 30 years of age, which benefit from an exceptional terroir with soils covered with millenary gravel. The blend includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. After the manual selection of the grapes and controlled temperature fermentation, the wine was aged in oak barrels for 12-18 months. Château de Fieuzal has a deep red color and a broad and complex aromatic profile with notes of blackberry, black cherry, and forest berries and some hints of spice and mineral nuances. On the palate, the wine is dense with a well-balanced structure and silky, well-integrated tannins. The long and concentrated finish recalls fruity notes. Perfect with Filet Mignon or a juicy Chateaubriand.
