Kemi 2 av Magnus Ehinger tar vid där Kemi 1 slutade. Boken följer en tydlig linje, där elevens kemikunskaper lugnt och metodiskt byggs upp mot målet att kunna förstå cellens biokemiska processer på molekylär nivå. Det betyder att boken först behandlar kemisk jämvikt och syra?bas-reaktioner. När eleven lärt sig detta, kan hen också förstå hur organiska molekyler byggs upp och reagerar med varandra. Den organiska kemin blir sedan avstamp mot biomolekyler och vidare mot hur proteiner (med speciell betoning på enzymer) fungerar. Med den kunskapen kan eleven också förstå de biokemiska processerna i våra celler. Författaren har samma lediga ton och direkta tilltal som i Kemi 1, och den som tidigare använt det läromedlet kommer snabbt att känna igen sig. Boken kan användas både i lärarledd undervisning, flippad undervisning eller egna studier. Efter varje avsnitt finns ett antal instuderingsfrågor vilket gör att eleven direkt kan bearbeta det hen läst om, och lära sig det. Boken innehåller också ett antal fördjupande texter som försöker lyfta fram inte minst de kvinnliga kemisternas betydelse för kemins och samhällets utveckling.

Kemi 1 är en lärobok för den första kemikursen på gymnasiets naturvetenskapliga program. Den bygger helt på skolverkets kursplan i kemi 1, vilket innebär att den startar i atommodellen och slutar i modern elektrokemi. Stor vikt har också lagts på kemins idéhistoria och dess betydelse för samhällsutvecklingen. Det här gäller inte bara atommodellens framväxt, utan också till exempel stökiometri och elektrokemi. Särskilt kvinnliga kemister lyfts också fram, tillsammans med deras betydande bidrag till kemin. Trots sitt traditionella upplägg och rika stoff har boken en lättsam och engagerande ton som talar direkt till eleverna. Texten kopplas ihop med exempel från kemin i samhället och dess historiska betydelse, och ger ett gediget perspektiv på kemin som vetenskap. Boken är skriven för att kunna användas både till egna studier och till lärarledda lektioner. Den bärande pedagogiska idén i boken är att den ska kunna användas tillsammans med flippat klassrum, med exempelvis videogenomgångar på nätet.
