Synagogen i Trondheim
Synagogen i Trondheim ligger i byens første jernbanestasjon og ble innviet 13. oktober 1925. Den var lenge det nordligste jødiske gudshuset i verden og er den nordligste synagogen i Europa i dag. Det jødiske samfunn i Trondheim, før Det mosaiske trossamfunn, var stiftet tidligere, i 1905. I synagogen ble det holdt gudstjenester og gitt religiøs undervisning. I tillegg blomstret det et rikt organisasjonsliv der i mellomkrigstida. Under andre verdenskrig ble mer enn halvparten av menigheten utslettet, og synagogen ble okkupert og rasert av tyskerne. I dag har menigheten gjenreist seg etter iherdig innsats, og synagogen er et religiøst og kulturelt samlingsted i Trondheim. Denne boka forteller historien til synagogen i Trondheim, og vi blir kjent med mange personer fra det jødiske miljøet i byen. Forfatter Terje T.V. Bratberg innleder med en oversikt over jødisk historie i Europa fra middelalderen.
