Radikaliteten i hans askes har sin grund i hans ovillkorliga behov att "jämföra". Men samtidigt gör detta hans askes enkel och självklar. Den radikala askesen är inte hård, eftersom den inte innebär att man ger avkall på något utan i stället väljer något bättre. Man föredrar ständigt det bästa.
