Ismet je bio mladi dječak kada je saznao za sukob između njegovog naroda, Bosnjaka, i Srba. Ziveci u Srbiji sa svojom porodicom, iz prve ruke svjedoči policijskoj brutalnosti i ubistvu svog oca od strane srpske policije tokom rata u Bosni. Duboko traumatiziran, Ismet zajedno s majkom bjezi iz Srbije tokom krize na Kosovu i nastanjuje se u Sarajevu. Ipak, njegova proslost ga proganja i svakodnevni zivot mu postaje tezak. Ismetovi problemi s mentalnim zdravljem prisiljavaju ga da napravi pauzu na fakultetu, a panični napad na novom poslu budi sjecanja na proslu traumu. Iznenađujuce, upravo mu komsija, mladi Srbin koji ima isto ime kao i ubica njegovog oca, pomaze na putu oporavka. Ova je priča o posljedicama predrasuda i rata, kao i neočekivanim načinima kako doci do iscjeljenja. Uprkos tami svoje proslosti, Ismet pronalazi nadu i podrsku, čak i od nekoga ko ga podsjeca na bolna sjecanja. 2021 släppte Wode sitt tredje album "Burn In Many Mirrors" till den internationella undergroundscenens stora glädje. Bandet hade utvecklat sitt sound till en brännande sammanslagning av Black Metal, Death Metal och inslag av klassiska Heavy Metal-sånger och solon. Nu går vi tillbaka till 2016, då gjorde Wode sitt första album, den självbetitlade debuten, som nu återutges här på svart vinyl. The lode in Gillian Allnutt’s title picks up on two of the many meanings of the word. A lode can be a course, a way, a journey; also a road, a lane. Her collection traces a journey through time, the time of her own life and of our lives, since the Second World War. Lode also means guidance, here the guidance afforded by the continuity and relative stability – economic, cultural, spiritual – of Britain’s postwar years, the setting of the first part of the book. That sense of stability ended with Covid, which found Gillian Allnutt isolated in the former pit village of Esh Winning in Co. Durham, her home for the past 30 years, the landscape of much of the middle section of the book.
