Författarna Lu och Rolf Ejvegård träffades första gången 1959, när de studerade vid universitetet i Edinburgh, Skottland. Lu kompletterade sin Bachelor of Arts (B.A., kandidatexamen) med litteratur som huvudämne, och Rolf, som specialiserade sig på filosofi, hade ett stipendium från British Councel. Året därpå gifte sig paret i Paris, Frankrike. Rolf hade fått ett års stipendium från franska staten. Lu förenade sig med honom sedan hon fått sin B.A. från Miami University, Ohio, USA. De bodde i La Maison Suédoise i Cité Universitaire.Intresset för Dylan Thomas uppstod under tidigt 1960-tal och därmed tanken på att översätta den walesika poeten till svenska. Lu och Rolf har rest i Wales och bland annat besökt huset, där D.T. föddes, och sett båthuset, där D.T. tillbringade en del av sitt liv tillsammans med hustrun Caitlin. Rolf har tidigare på förlaget Nomen gett ut diktsamlingen ”Perugia”. Den innehåller poem från 1957, då Rolf var stipendiat vid Università Italiana per Stranieri beläget just i staden Perugia, Italien.
