Founded in 1731, over the last three centuries, this company has expanded its vineyards to a total of approximately 130 hectares including Grand Cru and Premier Cru plots. The company's historic headquarters is the spectacular Château de Beaune, which has been in operation since 1820. The Pinot Noir grapes come from vineyards located on Triassic limestone soils, with marls and disintegrated stones, rich in minerals. After vinification, the wine rests for about a year in French oak barrels (of which about 70% are used). Gevrey Chambertin Bouchard Pere & Fils is an elegant wine with good aging potential. It has a clear and bright color with dark red tones and some garnet nuances. On the nose, the wine reveals a fragrant aromatic profile with notes of red fruit, undergrowth berries, and a subtle animal vein. On the palate, the wine has a good structure and fine and well-integrated tannins. It is soft and has a pleasant finish that recalls some spicy hints. It pairs elegantly with grilled red meats and is also excellent for a rich board of cheeses and cured meats.

Founded in 1731, Bouchard Père et Fils is a winery in the Cote d'Or, in Burgundy, rich in history and tradition and since 1995 it has been owned by the Maison Champagne Henriot. The company, now led by Stéphane Follin-Arbelet, owns approximately 130 hectares of vineyards in some of the most prestigious appellations of Burgundy, such as Chevalier-Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne, and Clos Vougeot. The Pinot Noir grapes come from vineyards located in the heart of the Pommard appellation on soils of limestone origin with traces of iron. After vinification, the finished wine rests in French oak barrels (20-30% of which are new) for approximately 1 year. The Pommard Premier Cru du Bouchard Pere & Fils is an elegant and well-structured wine with a brilliant dark ruby red color. On the nose, it shows a broad aromatic profile with notes of blackberry and black cherry, hints of undergrowth and wood. On the palate, it is firm and full-bodied with dense and well-integrated tannins. It has a strong character and a long and fruity finish. It is ready to drink now but can remain in the cellar for several years. Excellent with Coq au Vin and roast guinea fowl.

Bouchard Pere & Fils Beaune du Chateau Premier Cru Blanc 2021

Located in the heart of the Cote d'Or, the Bouchard Père et Fils winery has nearly 3 centuries of history and has been part of the Henriot Champagne house for almost 30 years. Their excellent wines are produced from vineyards located in some of the most prestigious appellations of the region and aged in the beautiful underground cellars of the Château de Beaune, a former royal fortress that the company has occupied since 1820. This extraordinary white wine is made from hand-picked Chardonnay grapes from 4 different parcels, located on limestone, clay, and marl soils. The wine is vinified separately per parcel, to ensure the full expression of each terroir, and the finished wine rests for approximately 10 months in French oak (approximately 15% new), and for 3-4 months in stainless steel vats. Beaune du Chateau Premier Cru Blanc reveals a pale gold color with light greenish hues. Its aromatic profile is ripe and broad with notes of white fruit, banana, lime blossom, candied citrus, and some hints of brioche and baking spices. On the palate, it is rich and concentrated with a pleasant fresh vein and a long finish that recalls mineral notes. Excellent with roast chicken and all-white meats.

Stella Harasek (s. 1981) on kirjoittaja ja valokuvaaja, joka rakastaa musiikkia. Ruotsissa syntynyt Harasek varttui Australiassa ja asui Tornionjokilaaksossa ennen muuttoaan Helsinkiin. Pimeä aine on hänen esikoisromaaninsa.
