COCO ÄR EN 48-ÅRIG serietecknare som plötsligt inte kan rita längre. Dagarna ägnar hon åt att läsa om mord på Flashback och att tänka tillbaka på sina misslyckade ungdomsår, då hon sov bort dagarna i en äcklig lägenhet i förorten. Känslan av att inte komma någonstans gör sig påmind och det sista hon vill är att hamna där igen. När hon kommer till lekparken med barnen har alla andra gått hem för att äta lunch, hennes egna barn fryser och är hungriga. Hon börjar på en konstkurs men tulpanerna i akvarell blir skitfula. Hon ljuger för sin man om att hon jobbar. Dessutom finns det saker som hon inte kan berätta om. Saker som hänt i familjen, alldeles för privata för hamna i en självbiografisk serieroman. Coco ändrar, suddar, slänger och börjar om men det blir ingenting. Istället för att jobba städar hon huset kliniskt rent och gräver djupare i mordfallen. Till slut går det inte länge, hon inser att hon måste berätta allt.Coco Moodysson gestaltar familjens innersta med skärpa och varsamhet i sin mest ambitiösa, fulländade bok hittills. Alexandra Sundqvist i DNFör grejen med Moodysson är att hon faktiskt inte alls är så dålig på att teckna som hon själv envist hävdar, i detta album liksom i de få intervjuer hon gjort. Tvärtom ser jag formsäkerhet, uttrycksfullhet och psykologiskt gehör, hur hon med ytterst små medel varierar kroppsspråk, gestik och mimik. Underskruvat, eller faktiskt inte skruvat alls. Snarare så rakt och nertonat att man måste vara gjord av sten för att inte låta sig beröras. Det krävs mod att våga vara så enkel. I ett av de vackraste kapitlen skildras Cocos och Lukas första möte, i videobutiken där hon jobbar. De finner varandra i avigheten och utanförskapskänslan som de båda bär på.
