Champagne Michel Gonet Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Mesnil Sur Oger 2015
Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant it. This Champagne house, created in 1802, was developed by Michel Gonet and it’s now managed by his daughter Sophie Signolle. Today, the company covers about 40 ha of vineyards with plots well located in the Côte des Blancs (Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Vertus), in Aube and Sézannais, planted with 80% Chardonnay grapes and 20% Pinot Noir. In addition, the family owns six châteaux in Bordeaux. The Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Mesnil Sur Oger is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes from proprietary land in Les Hautes Mottes in Mesnil Sur Oger, municipality of Grand Cru. The wine shows a beautiful golden color enlivened by abundant bubbles. On the nose, it opens on aromas of candied citrus fruits and nectarine, evolving towards toasted and creamy notes. The bubbles are round and persistent on the palate, followed by a lovely freshness and fruity hints of mirabelle plum and pear. There is also a remarkable finish on vanilla and a hint of acidity at the end of the mouth. It makes a delicious and elegant aperitif and it’s perfect with raw seafood appetizers, grilled white meat, fish first courses, Sushi, and Sashimi. Serve it well chilled.

Champagne Michel Gonet Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Coeur de Mesnil 2010
Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. No need to decant. Coming from a family of winegrowers since 1802, Michel Gonet created his own eponymous champagne house in 1973, with the idea of creating champagnes that would be pure and respectful of the environment. Michel developed the company until it was extended to 36 hectares in the 1980s. Today, his three children, Charles-Henri, Frédéric, and Sophie, have taken over from him and continue to carry on their father's vision. It is said that Michel Gonet's family has a gift for simply receiving and creating memories and friendships around their champagnes. The Chardonnay grapes for this Blanc de Blancs come from one of the most famous communes of Champagne, Mesnil sur Oger. They are vinified in the Extra Brut version, and then the wine ages for 10 years before being disgorged. Bright golden yellow in color, the wine opens with complex and generous aromas of stone fruit, toasted almonds, and citrus fruits, but also flint, butter, and marzipan. In the mouth, it is rich and silky, and the notes of butter return accompanied by good minerality and a structured, intense, and persistent body. Perfect with grilled white meat, seafood main courses, and delicate fish preparations.
