The Home And Art Of Carl Milles - Millesgården - Ett Konstnärshem
Stockholms Millesgården is one of the most exciting artists homes in the world. Building began in 1906 after Carl Milles, one of Swedens most prominent sculptors, and his wife Olga commissioned a home with studios on Herserud Cliff on the island of Lidingö. In 1936, the Milles couple donated their home to the Swedish people, and it has since turned into a renowned museum, boasting of a sculpture park by the water with meandering walkways, terraces and fountains. The award-winning addition of the art gallery in 1999 completed the artists grand vision and his lasting legacy. The book presents the rich history of the artists home with contemporary photographs by Yanan Li, illustrating one of the jewels of Sweden.
Béatrice Cussol - Rude Girls
Cute animals, fluffy clouds, blood, sex and pleasure...surreal watercolors executed in rapid brushstrokes, almost like comic panels. At first glance it looks Cussols paintings appear to be made by a schoolgirl. It's birdie cards, colorful handbags, ruffled dresses and fluffy clouds with eyes and mouth. But if you look closer, the content becomes multilayered, uncomfortable and confusing. The women in the paintings behave not as expected. This book is published in conjunction with her exhibition at the Spritmuseum in Stockholm.
Kent Ullberg - Skulptur ; Lars Jonsson - Måleri
Två svenska konstnärer presenterade i ett paket om två böcker i samband med deras utställning på Millesgården. Dessa två konstnärer har en gemensam kärlek till djur, i Lars Jonssons fall fåglar och i Kent Ullbergs de stora djuren på land och i havet. Med fokus på djur i respektive konstutövande har de gått mot strömmen, stått i kontrast mot rådande trender och utvecklat liknande förhållningssätt till sin konst. Det handlar om en ödmjukhet och en förmåga att underställa sig djuren, att lyssna, studera och vänta vilket kräver stort tålamod och en vetenskaplig förståelse för sina motiv. Kent Ullberg är erkänd som en av världens främsta wildlife-skulptörer och hans monumentala skulpturer finns placerade på många platser runtom världen. Lars Jonsson är internationellt erkänd för sina fälthandböcker om fåglar. Hans akvareller och oljemålningar har ställts ut på gallerier och museer i Sverige, Amerika och i Europa. The two Swedish artists are presented together in a special double-book format, in connection with their exhibition at Millesgården. Kent Ullberg and Lars Jonsson are kindred spirits in their mutual love for animals; birds in Lars Jonsson's case and for Kent Ullberg it is the larger animals on land and in the sea. In pursuit of their passion, they went against the grain, in opposition to the prevailing art trends and developed similar approaches to their art. Kent Ullberg is recognised as one of the world's foremost wildlife sculptors known for his monumental works executed for museums and municipalities across the globe. Lars Jonsson has gained international recognition for his field handbooks on birds. He has regularly shown his watercolours and oil paintings in galleries and museums in Sweden, America and in several European countries.
