Han arbetar som utbildningskonsult inom grafisk formgivning och är även verksam som författare, översättare, förläggare och föreläsare.Under tonåren upplevde han på nära håll den samhällsomvälvning som resulterade i att monarkin i Iran ersattes av den nuvarande regimen.Bara ett par år senare blev Namdar Nasser, så som många andra unga män i hans generation, tvungen att delta i kriget mot grannlandet Irak. Tjugo år gammal lämnade han Iran illegalt och blev strandsatt i Turkiet i två år innan han 1985 kom till Sverige som flykting. Namdar Nasser har översatt, medverkat i och skrivit ett 80-tal böcker. Han har varit en flitig introduktör av persisk litteratur på svenska och svensk litteratur på persiska. Han har bland annat översatt dikter av Edith Södergran, Gunnar Ekelöf och Bruno K.
