Caretaker / the Dumb Waiter
In all of Pinter's plays, seemingly ordinary events become charged with profound, if elusive, meaning, haunting pathos, and wild comedy. In The Caretaker, a tramp finds lodging in the derelict house of two brothers; in The Dumb Waiter, a pair of gunmen wait for the kill in a decayed lodging house. Harold Pinter gradually exposes the inner strains and fears of his characters, alternating hilarity and terror to create an almost unbearable edge of tension.

Barolo
Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in Monforte d'Alba, the Domenico Clerico winery was born in the late 70s, when the homonymous founder took over the reins of the family business, deciding to vinify his grapes and focusing his production on Barolo. From its 21 hectares of vineyards, the company today produces extremely high-quality wines known throughout the world. Barbera grapes are selected and hand-picked from the Mosconi, Ginestra, and San Pietro vineyards. Here the low-yielding vines have an average age of 25 years. After fermentation in steel vats with indigenous yeasts, the finished wine rests half in oak barrels and the other half in large barrels for 16 months. Trevigne Barbera d’Alba has a concentrated color with bright ruby-red tones. On the nose, it reveals a fragrant aromatic profile with intense fruity notes of cherry and plum and some spicy hints. On the palate, it is well structured and concentrated, with a good body and young but well-integrated tannins. It is round and soft. There is also a good refreshing acidic streak. The finish is persistent and recalls a savory note. It is the ideal wine with pasta with ragu or meatballs in tomato sauce.
